This is probably the most interesting spot on the list of secret rooftop gardens, and here is why:
Restoration Hardware set out to open its flagship store in Los Angeles; and, they chose an office building in the heart of West Hollywood. Originally, the architectural plans called for a small garden of green space on the first floor. But, as the store design kept expanding, the public space shrunk in size.
The city wasn't pleased with this design and would only allow the building to convert from office to retail if Restoration Hardware agreed to a certain square footage of green space. In an effort to not give up space on the first floor, the resulting design called for a rooftop garden that would be open to the public and accessible via elevators in the store.
What!!! This is such a win for the locals! I am obsessed with this secret spot in the city because it happens to be in my neighborhood. I recently had an afternoon picnic here taking in the cooler weather and sweeping vistas all while staying warm and cozy in this sweater dress (how cute is this one from Tobi) and sipping my favorite tea latte.
The views alone make this special place a great place to relax or work. Often, you will find locals huddle in a cushioned chair over their laptop simply working away. It is a quiet and peaceful spot in the dead center of the city. And, those views are quite inspirational when spending the afternoon working away.
I know I am partial to this secret spot, because it is in my neighborhood, but I highly recommend stopping by. Across the street is Urth Cafe which is a local staple. Grab food and a latte to go and have a picnic in this rooftop garden!
