I studied this art colony in college almost 10 years ago and had been wanting to go ever since. It might be the quirkiest, coolest little town I've ever experienced. Arguably the largest attraction for art goers is the Chinati Foundation. In many ways, this is the heart of Marfa. The Chinati Foundation is the art child of Donald Judd and home to various famous art installations including Judd's field of concrete boxes.
Here are a few shots from one of my favorite and most unique spaces and places experience:
Donald Judd is the entire reason I even knew about Marfa. Visiting the Chianti Foundation, for me, was the highlight of my day in Marfa.
The entire Chianti Foundation is housed in old army barracks including two large hangers all of which are now home to dozens upon dozens of art pieces. Just passing through Marfa for the day, I didn't have time to do the entire museum tour. It takes an entire day from morning until night to see it all. Luckily, the Judd Fields are open for self-guided tours.
What to wear to Marfa, Texas? Well, it is HOTT ya'll!
